Al-free di-trioctahedral substitution in chlorite and a ferri-sudoite end-member

چکیده
A compilation of Fe-bearing chlorite analyses is used: (1) to investigate the Alfree di-trioctahedral (AFDT) substitution 2Fe +□ = 3(Mg,Fe) in chlorite; and (2) to estimate the composition of a ferri-sudoite end-member (Si3Al)[(Fe ,Mg)2Fe 3+ 2 □Al]O10(OH)8 within the chlorite solid-solution domain. According to our observations, up to two Fe cations might be allocated in the M2-M3 chlorite sites by the substitution AFDT, which does not involve Al. These unexpected observations were made possible by the development of μXANES techniques allowing in situ measurements of XFe (Fe/(Fe + Fe)) in heterogeneous chlorite. Although further studies are required to confirm the crystallographic position of Fe and refine its ionic/ magnetic behaviour in chlorite, this development creates opportunities for developing new geothermometers.

Mineral Chemistry of Chlorite Replacing Biotite from Granitic Rocks of the Canadian Appalachians
Chlorite flakes, as a product of alteration of biotite, the dominant ferromagnesian mineral in the Paleozoic granitic rocks of the Canadian Appalachians, have been analyzed by electron microprobe for major elements and by 57Fe M?ssbauer spectroscopy for the coordination and oxidation state of Fe. Comparison of M?ssbauer Fe3+/Fe ratios obtained from chlorite and its host biotite indicates that c...

Chemical analyses of chlorite flakes, as a product of alteration of biotite in the Eocene granitoid rocks of Naghade and Pasveh intrusions have been accomplished by electron microprobe for major elements. Based on 53 point analyses of chlorites from 13 rock samples, their mean structural formula recalculations display that Si cation numbers are less than 5.97 atoms per formula unit (apfu), and ...

-The chemical compositions ofchlorite-smectite mixed-layered minerals (C/S) from the Ohyu caldera (lnoue, 1985) are analyzed using M+-4Si-3R 2§ diagrams. The assumed original saponite has the following composition: Si3.54Alo.460 ~ 0Alo. ~7~Fe 2§ ~.385Mg1.z95Mn0.o2(OH)2M+o.56. Random C/S minerals ( 100 to 80% expandable layers) are interpreted as an interstratification of the starting 2:1 smecti...

Weathering of K-bearing minerals as the major source of potassium in soils is of special importance under K deficient conditions. Many studies have been carried out on the effect of plant types and microorganisms on the transformation of micaeous minerals and their potassium release. However, there is no information on the effect of organic matter on mineralogical changes in micaceous minerals....
